The Grosvenor Centre was filled with the sounds of Christmas this Friday as children from Ash Grove Academy sang carols in the centre.

The primary school pupils performed for shoppers from 10.30am to 11.30am and Grosvenor Centre Manager, Ed Kennedy, said the youngsters proved a real hit with shoppers.

“It was great to have the students in the centre,” said Ed. “We’ve got a long-standing partnership with Ash Grove Academy and their performances really went down a treat. With Christmas just over a week away, it was wonderful to hear the seasonal songs drifting through the mall.

“Carolling is one of the most quintessentially Christmassy activities and it was great to have such a talented group of students singing for visitors and we can’t wait to have them back next year.”

Kevin Simpson, Executive Principal at Ash Grove Academy, said he was delighted with how well the performances went down with shoppers. “The children were practising for weeks in the run up to the visit to the centre and the day definitely didn’t disappoint. I’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Ed and the team at the Grosvenor Centre for once again helping us to organise the carols at the centre.

“Friday was a fantastic day and I know that all of the children that took part will be feeling very festive during the last few days of term. We really value the partnership we have with the Grosvenor Centre and we’ve already started thinking about what we’ll be singing next year.”
